The one program which is currently in high demand on the job market and seems to be the one most people want to learn is Microsoft Excel. Excel is a program used to create spreadsheets. A spreadsheet is a computer program designed to facilitate the manipulation of data in the form of numbers. It will save you lots of time and improve accuracy when calculating equations with many variables. With a spreadsheet you can easily produce projections, budgets, salary expenses, tax reports, proposals, and much more! No wonder there is so much need for the program in school, work, and at home.

In January of 2007, Microsoft released it latest Excel version, Excel 2007. Like all the other programs that make up the Office 2007 Suite, Excel 2007 looks extremely different from the previous versions. Gone are the traditional Menu Bar and toolbars we have all become accustomed with over the years. They have been replaced with the Ribbon, Office Button, and Quick Access Toolbar.

In June of 2010, Microsoft released Excel 2010 to the public. Microsoft released Excel 2013 to the public in January of 2013. Both Excel 2010 and Excel 2013 are built off of the 2007 design. This means that if you can use 2007, 2010 and 2013 should not be a problem or vice versa. In many ways it is like going from Office 2000 to 2003. If you can use one, you can use the others.

One of the biggest differences between the 2007 and both 2010 and 2013 is that they got rid of the 2007 Office Button and replaced it with a button (tab) called "File." For the most part, 2010 and 2013 are the same with 2013 having a more 3-D type look and designed for touch screen interfaces and with "cloud computing" in mind.
