The appropriate codec is not installed on your computer
To play most streaming media, the data must be decompressed before it can be played. The software that decompresses the data is known as a codec. If the appropriate codec is not installed on your computer, Windows Media Player attempts to download and install it.
This error message indicates that the required codec was not downloaded either because a codec is not available for the content you want to play, or because the Internet security settings for your browser are set too high and will not enable you to download the codec.
To enable codecs to be downloaded to your computer
Open Internet Options in Control Panel.
Click the Security tab, and then click Internet.
In Security level for this zone area, click Default Level.
The security level is set to Medium.
For more information about setting Internet security levels, see Windows Help and Support.
Note Microsoft Internet Explorer does not have to be set as your default browser to download the codec or for Windows Media Player to function properly.
