filesCatalog is a cataloguer of files located on disk, compact disks (DVD, CD-R, CD-RW), floppy disks, ZIP drives, tape drives and other storage media. Having created the catalog with the help of this program you will forget about the files lost in your archive!
How does filesCatalog work and what is its purpose? It scans storage media indexing files saving the information about them (name, file creation and last change date, size etc.) in your catalog. Some additional properties are extracted and saved for some file types such as applications, Microsoft Office documents, music files in mp3 format and other. Later these properties can be used in search or put into report.
Later you can work with such catalog even if there is no access to their storage media where files are located! Thus the program will prove to be very useful if you have a lot of CDs with necessary information. Using filesCatalog program you will need just a few seconds to find the necessary files and disks.
filesCatalog allows to index files from your archives in ZIP, RAR format and in SFX archives. In catalog such archives are represented as folders.
For each catalog element you can enter the description or specify the list of keywords. The search can be carried out by different criterions including name, description, keywords and other information.
Scanning of volumes can be executed in background mode. Thereby, you may work or play on computer in that time as program filesCatalog indexes files.
filesCatalog allows to create as much catalogs as you want. Each directory can contain information on a hundred of volumes and about a thousand of files! filesCatalog doesn't use large and complex databases, each catalog is saved in separate file that much comfortable. You may save its backup copy on any media or send the catalog by e-mail.
Using function of the export you may export the catalog elements into the HTML format. Such file can be sent by e-mail, publish on the web or printed.
